Age restriction
LinguaLex is intended for users aged 13 and over. By using the service you confirm you meet this requirement. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe a minor has provided us with data, please contact privacy@lingualex.app and we will delete it promptly.
1. What we collect and why
We process the minimum data necessary to deliver the service. The table below lists each category, its purpose, and the legal basis under GDPR Article 6.

2. Analytics
We use a privacy-focused product analytics service routed through EU infrastructure. Analytics collect anonymised usage events only — no personal profile is built and data is never shared with advertising networks or third-party data brokers. You can opt out by enabling "Do Not Track" in your browser or by using an ad blocker.
3. Sub-processors and data transfers
To deliver the service, we share data with a limited set of third-party providers acting as data processors. These fall into the following categories:
- Cloud database and authentication — stores your account, vocabulary, and generated stories. Data is hosted in the EU.
- Static site hosting and form processing — serves the website and handles waitlist form submissions.
- Authentication provider (Telegram, Google) — used only if you choose that login method. We receive only the profile fields necessary to create your account.
- AI story generation — your vocabulary words are sent to an AI provider to generate chapter text. The provider does not use API inputs to train its models.
- Product analytics — anonymised usage events only. EU infrastructure. See section 2.
Each provider is bound by a data processing agreement. Where data is transferred outside the EU, transfers are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent approved mechanism. You may request the full list of sub-processors by emailing privacy@lingualex.app.
4. Retention
- Account and vocabulary data — retained until you request deletion, then removed within 30 days.
- Generated stories — stored as part of your account; deleted with your account.
- Database backups — retained for 30 days for disaster recovery, then purged.
- Analytics events — anonymised; retained for 12 months then automatically deleted.
- Waitlist submissions — retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
5. Your rights
Under GDPR and equivalent legislation you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of your personal data and vocabulary.
- Portability — receive your vocabulary in a structured, machine-readable format (JSON or CSV).
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Erasure — ask us to delete your account and all associated data.
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent (e.g. marketing emails), you may withdraw at any time without affecting prior processing.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@lingualex.app. We will respond within 30 days.
EU/EEA residents have the right to lodge a complaint with their national data protection authority. A list of EU DPAs is available at edpb.europa.eu.
6. Cookies and local storage
LinguaLex uses browser localStorage to remember your chosen language and theme preference. This data never leaves your device. Our analytics service may set a first-party cookie to distinguish unique sessions; it contains no personally identifiable information and can be cleared at any time through your browser settings.
7. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes affecting your rights we will notify registered users by email or via an in-app notice at least 14 days before the change takes effect.
